Amazon to hire 1000 more employees in Inland Empire
A large crowd of jobseekers showed up at the Amazon fulfillment center in Moreno Valley Tuesday to take part in a one-day hiring event. The company also announced it has 1,000 more jobs to fill.

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- Nearly 400 people interviewed with Amazon at their fulfillment center in Moreno Valley Tuesday in hopes to land a job.

"I'm nervous because I've gone to a lot of job interviews and I'm just hoping to get this one," Yucaipa resident Aundrea Scull said.

According to the online retailer's website, the entry-level positions at their facility in Moreno Valley will pay employers $12 an hour to start packing and shipping orders.

"It means I can provide for my family at home and help out my fiancee at home and my baby," Hemet resident David Carrasco said.

The applicants didn't need to wait long to find out if they got the job. Once in the interview room, the applicants were hired onsite. Scull and Marc Pope start their new full-time jobs next month.

About two weeks ago, Amazon announced they were looking to fill 1,000 full-time positions at its fulfillment centers in San Bernardino, Moreno Valley and Redlands. On Tuesday, they announced they're looking to double that and hire 2,000 employees in the Inland Empire.

"We have found an amazing workforce in the Inland Empire. They're enthusiastic, they're dedicated and they're customer-obsessed, and we are growing to meet customer demand, especially here in Southern California, so this is a perfect place for us to continue growing," Amazon spokeswoman Ashley Robinson said.

Along with Amazon, luxury automaker Fisker recently announced it's going to open a plant in Moreno Valley that'll create 150 full-time jobs.
