Amtrak stabbing suspect charged with attempted murder

Police investigate after four people were stabbed on board an Amtrak train in southwestern Michigan Friday evening.

Michael Darnell Williams, 44, has been charged in connection with the stabbing of four people on board an Amtrak train in southwestern Michigan Friday evening, police said.

Three people and the train's conductor were injured in the incident in Niles, Mich. The conductor contacted police and stopped the train as the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and started attacking several people, police said.

Police boarded the train and confronted the suspect, who allegedly threatened officers with a knife, police said. They used a stun gun on him to take him into custody.

Williams is being held on a cash-only $1 million bail and faces four counts of assault with intent to murder. He will be arraigned Monday.
