SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (KABC) -- The search was ongoing for a missing Arizona hiker who's believed lost in the Sequoia National Park.

Search and rescue crews began canvassing the area on Sunday, in search for 41-year-old Vince Scalise of Phoenix.

Officials with the National Park Service said Scalise was supposed to return from a five-day backpacking trip on Wednesday.

The agency wasn't notified until Saturday night.

The area where Scalise may have gone missing received a lot of rain and snow, with overnight temperatures dipping below freezing.
