SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man who was barricaded in a residence and held his father at gunpoint for hours in South Los Angeles Tuesday night has been taken into custody.

The 25-year-old suspect had been holding his father hostage inside their home on the 1300 block of West 109th Place. Los Angeles County sheriff's personnel said they responded to a 911 call hang-up around 5:37 p.m. A SWAT team with negotiators also went to the scene.

At about 10:20 p.m., sheriff's deputies reported that the hostage was released. A special weapons team later made contact with the suspect and arrested him without further incident.

It's unknown what sparked the hostage situation.
