MIRACLE MILE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Family members and friends gathered Wednesday night to remember a popular taekwondo teacher who was shot and killed outside his Willowbrook home.

Michael Robertson, 30, was gunned down Tuesday night outside the home he shared with his mother and stepfather. At least three bullets struck the house.

Neighbors saw a car flee after the shooting.

Robertson's sister Mary Robertson came home from Las Vegas when she heard the devastating news.

"He was just like a super-human being," Mary Robertson said nearly in tears.

Michael Robertson was an instructor at Dae Sung Tae Kwan Do in Miracle Mile, where he practiced martial arts for many years. His family says he took an interest in taekwondo at a young age.

"He just took it all in and that was his passion. He just went for it," his aunt Tracey Russell said.

Family members said Michael Robertson grew up in Hollywood and had no gang ties. His mother moved to Willowbrook about six years ago.

"You guys robbed us, but you not going to destroy us. He's in all of us," Russell said.

An investigation into his death was ongoing.
