BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An off-ramp on the southbound 5 Freeway was closed in Boyle Heights early Thursday following a multi-vehicle collision involving a big rig, authorities said.

A motorist exited the freeway, ran a red light and crashed into a tanker truck near E. 7th Street around 2:30 a.m. The big rig was carrying about 100 gallons of diesel. An SUV was also involved in the crash.

Hazmat units were sent to the scene. The off-ramp was reopened around 7 a.m.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
