Body found in Seal Beach flood control channel

SEAL BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Seal Beach police were investigating a suspicious death Monday after a man's body was found in a flood control channel.

A passerby spotted the body face down shortly before noon south of Rancho Road and west of Bolsa Chica Road. Police said the man was between 40 and 50 and suffered trauma to his body.

"It is a 'no trespass' channel, so we wouldn't expect too many people to be down here playing around," Seal Beach Police Sgt. Phil Gonshak said.

The Orange County coroner was on scene. An investigation was underway.
