Bogart Fire in Cherry Valley getting under control

CHERRY VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- Firefighters made major progress Wednesday against a brush fire in Cherry Valley near Beaumont.

The fire ignited Tuesday near Winesap Avenue and International Park Road around 1 p.m. Since then, the blaze, dubbed the Bogart Fire, has charred 1,300 acres.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the fire was 45 percent contained, Cal Fire officials said.

The blaze triggered evacuation orders for more than 400 homes - 200 in Banning Bench and 200 at the mobile home park and surrounding neighborhood in Cherry Valley. Evacuations in both areas were lifted by Tuesday night.
