CHARLOTTE -- Among all the unrest in Charlotte, North Carolina an unlikely friendship has blossomed between a boy in kindergarten and cops.

Five-year-old Jayden Hooker says he got scared during the protests. He heard about police officers getting injured and asked his mother if she would take him to the police station so he could bring them donuts and give them "free hugs" so, in his words "they're not so scared."

"I'm happy the police officers didn't get really hurt. I want you to stay safe and I don't want anybody to hurt you," Jayden said.

Some of the police officers were moved to tears by the gesture.

Jayden's mother says she's proud of her son and that a five-year-old can teach us a lot about how we should treat each other in times like these.
