Brush fire near Highway 18 in San Bernardino fully contained

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) -- A small brush fire that erupted in San Bernardino's Waterman Canyon Sunday afternoon resulted in a temporary closure of Highway 18 as firefighters tried to douse the flames.

The 15-acre fire broke out near the bottom south end of the canyon near Arrowhead Springs Road around 3:07 p.m. Firefighters from San Bernardino City Fire and San Bernardino County Fire departments are at the scene. Three helicopters, two air tankers and one water tender were assisting to put out the blaze. The fire was fully contained by 7:30 p.m.

Highway 18 was shut down from 40th Street north to Highway 138 until late in the evening.
