FULLERTON, Calif. (KABC) -- Two suspects were taken into custody Tuesday morning after crashing a stolen vehicle into a furniture store in Fullerton.

Anaheim police say they had tried to stop the Cadillac Escalade for speeding in the area of La Palma Avenue and Harbor Boulevard around 2 a.m., but the driver sped off, leading them on a short pursuit.

The chase ended when the suspects crashed into the business at Harbor and Valencia in Fullerton and fled on foot. A juvenile female passenger was taken into custody almost immediately, but the male suspect initially got away.

According to Anaheim police, witnesses standing on the street corner went back to their home and found the suspect hiding inside. They alerted authorities, who then entered the residence and took the suspect into custody. No injuries were reported.

"Someone's obviously very desperate when they do something like that. So the stolen car was a felony, and then actually running into someone's home is considered a type of burglary and that enhances the crimes here today," said Lt. Bob Dunn with the Anaheim Police Department.

Allen Lee opened the discount furniture store 31 years ago. Despite all the damage, Lee said he's trying to remain positive about what happened to his store. He is now in contact with his insurance and his landlord to figure out what to do next.
