Carjacking suspect arrested at casino after chase through South LA
A carjacking suspect's pickup threw off sparks as she drove on a shredded wheel during a chase through South LA.

BELL GARDENS, Calif. (KABC) -- A carjacking suspect in a gold-colored pickup truck led police on a chase through surface streets in the South Los Angeles area, at times throwing up a shower of sparks from a wheel that was shredded by a spike strip.

The suspect carjacked someone at knifepoint in Compton, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. In the stolen vehicle, she led deputies through surface streets for about 30 minutes, weaving through traffic and narrowly avoiding pedestrians as she drove through Walnut Park, Huntington Park and other communities. At one point, the female driver drove over a spike strip, shredding a left rear tire.

The chase ended when the suspect pulled into the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens and then stopped the vehicle. A wall of deputies surrounded the pickup, ordering the woman to come out of the vehicle. She emerged and was tackled and handcuffed by deputies in the parking lot.
