HESPERIA, Calif. (KABC) -- A desert patch not far from the backyard of homes in Hesperia has become a dumping ground.
The problem got so noticeable that the city of Hesperia installed surveillance cameras in order to catch people illegally dumping their garbage. Less than a month later, it appears chainsaw-wielding thieves have stolen one of the cameras.
City spokeswoman Rachel Molina said the city is out of $7,000 worth of property and have removed all the cameras to avoid losing them.
Inland Empire Bureau Chief Rob McMillan has more on the bizarre crime in the video above.
