Dead male found by vehicle in Newton Canyon

MALIBU, Calif. (KABC) -- A deceased male was found near a vehicle in Newton Canyon about 900 feet down from Kanan Dume Road in the Santa Monica Mountains on Wednesday, according to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.

The sheriff's homicide bureau and the county coroner were investigating the death.

A search-and-rescue team examined the area Tuesday night and located the vehicle, but it was too dark to access the canyon for further examination.
