Deputies investigate fatal shooting in Covina

COVINA, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was shot to death in unincorporated Covina early Saturday morning, according to authorities.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said the shooting happened in the 17600 block of Brookport Street at about 1:15 a.m.

Witnesses reported hearing gunshots, but did not see any suspects or vehicles, according to homicide investigators.

When authorities arrived to the scene, they found a man on the ground in front of a home with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.

He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The sheriff's office said evidence was gathered near the scene.
