Double shooting closes WB 91 Freeway in Anaheim
A double shooting closed the westbound 91 Freeway east of the 57 Freeway in Anaheim Monday night. One person was killed in the shooting.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) -- One person was killed and another injured after a double shooting that closed the westbound 91 Freeway east of the 57 Freeway in Anaheim Monday night, according to the Anaheim Police Department.

Four people were in a white, Ford pickup truck when the gunfire erupted shortly after 8 p.m., authorities said. Two survivors, believed to be a young child and teenager, were taken to the police station.

A police investigation prompted the full closure of westbound lanes.

Westbound traffic on the 91 was diverted to the 55. Westbound 91 lanes were closed at North Kraemer Blvd. The transition roads to the westbound 91 were closed from the 55 and 57 freeways. There was no immediate estimated time of reopening, the California Highway Patrol said.

Traffic was affected from Lakeview Avenue. Northbound 55 traffic was slow from Katella Avenue to the 91. For an alternate route approaching from the westbound 91, exit Lakeview and take La Palma Avenue.

Multiple police vehicles lined up across lanes and drove slowly with officers walking in front with flashlights scanning the roadway for shell casings and other evidence.

A motive for the shooting or a suspect description was not immediately determined. The investigation was ongoing.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS.
