SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man was killed and a woman wounded Thursday night in a shooting in the Vermont Square neighborhood of South L.A., authorities said.

The boyfriend and girlfriend were shot at about 11:40 p.m. in the 4800 block of Halldale Avenue, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department said, adding that the motive for the incident was robbery.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the LAPD. His name was not immediately released.

The female victim was transported to a hospital in unknown condition, suffering from gunshot wounds to her legs.

Two males in a dark vehicle were being sought in connection with the shooting, police said. No further description was available.
