101 Freeway crash in Sherman Oaks: Driver flees scene on foot

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. (KABC) -- A search is underway for a driver who took off on foot after a crash on the 101 Freeway in Sherman Oaks Sunday night.

The California Highway Patrol says the crash was reported around 11:53 p.m. on the northbound 101 Freeway, near the 405 Freeway interchange.

According to the CHP, the driver of a black 2003 BMW crashed into a white 2006 Honda, causing the Honda to overturn. Police say the BMW driver then fled the scene on foot. The Los Angeles Police Department Air Support Division and K9 units were not able to find the driver.

The occupants of the Honda, a 41-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man, were transported to a local hospital with major injuries.
