Fairfax District shoe store robbed by 2 armed suspects wearing monkey masks
Two armed suspects wearing monkey masks stole boxes of Nike Jordan shoes for women from a sneaker store in the Fairfax District Thursday.

FAIRFAX DISTRICT, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Two armed suspects wearing monkey masks stole boxes of Nike Jordan shoes for women from a sneaker store in the Fairfax District Thursday.

The bizarre robbery was reported in the 7800 block of Melrose Avenue at 12:50 p.m.

The suspects threatened the clerk with two semi-auto handguns. Police say they fled the scene in a late model four-door gray Nissan Altima with paper plates. No one was injured.

Both suspects were described as males, possibly black or Hispanic, between 18 and 25 years old, standing between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches, and weighing around 150 pounds.

In the surveillance video, the first suspect was seen wearing a gray shirt, blue jeans, light blue gloves and a monkey face mask. The second suspect was last seen wearing a red shirt, blue jeans, light blue gloves and a gorilla mask.
