LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The body of an apparent stabbing victim was found in a car that crashed a few blocks from County/USC hospital, police said.

Officers were called to a traffic collision near Valley Boulevard and Soto Street around 11:15 a.m. and found the body of a man who had been stabbed behind the wheel.

The 2015 black Honda Civic had smashed head-on into a tree on the side of the road, fully shearing it off.

The man was brought to County/USC and pronounced dead.

Police say they don't have any indications that the stabbing was gang-related, but they are looking for witnesses to come forward.

"Investigators are asking for the public's help," said Officer Mike Lopez with the Los Angeles Police Department. "If anybody's seen anything or knows anything, please contact Hollenbeck detectives."
