FONTANA, Calif. (KABC) -- Four people, including a 4-month-old baby, were hospitalized with severe injuries following a hit-and-run crash in Fontana Saturday.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Sierra Avenue and Valley Boulevard around 3:34 a.m.

Police say the driver of a 2006 black Ford Escape was traveling around 60 miles per hour when he slammed into a Nissan that was stopped at a red light.

An 11-year-old child and a four-month-old baby inside the Nissan were rushed to Loma Linda Medical Center with head trauma. Two others were also transported.

The driver of the black Ford Escape fled the scene on foot. He was described as a Hispanic man, between 20 and 25 years old, standing around 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build.
