GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (KABC) -- Seven schools in Garden Grove were temporarily placed on modified lockdown Thursday morning due to an unconfirmed report of shots fired off campus.

Garden Grove police said they received a call around 8:40 a.m. about someone firing two rounds into the air on Blanche Avenue east of Dale Street and walking away with a shotgun.

Police said no one was injured.

The suspect then walked away from the original location and into a nearby house. He was eventually taken into custody and the lockdowns were lifted around 10:15 a.m.

Seven schools were placed under modified lockdown as a precaution, as well as the district's maintenance and operations facility. A modified lockdown means students can move freely inside the schools but are not allowed outside. School officials said there is no known threat to students.

The following schools were affected, according to the Garden Grove Unified School District:

- Ernest O. Lawrence Elementary School

- Alamitos-Lawrence Intermediate School

- Rancho Alamitos High School

- Louis G. Zeyen Elementary School

- Faylane Elementary School (Skylark Elementary School due to campus upgrades)

- Stanford Elementary School

- Our Redeemer Pre-School
