Gas prices in California explained
Filling up at the gas pump is more affordable Tuesday compared to earlier this year, but it still isn't cheap.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Filling up at the gas pump is more affordable Tuesday compared to earlier this year, but it still isn't cheap.

According to Gas Buddy, California's average price for a gallon of regular is $3.45, despite the fact that oil has fallen for eight consecutive weeks -- the longest streak since 1986.

Now below $40 a barrel, the price of oil is down 34 percent from this year's high of $61 a barrel. Last year, it was well over $100.
