GLENDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- A Glendale police officer was arrested in Las Vegas for soliciting sex from an undercover vice officer on August 8.

A female vice officer posing as a working prostitute was approached by Vahak Mardoun Mardikian at the Flamingo Casino on South Las Vegas Boulevard at approximately 2 a.m. on August 8.

According to the Las Vegas Police report, over the course of 50 minutes, Mardikian made conversation with the officer and arranged to have sex with her for $250 cash and $25 in gas money.

Mardikian indirectly indicated to the officer that he was a police officer on vacation from California. He made arrangements with the officer to meet her at her car in the parking garage to drive to her apartment to perform the sex act, then get a ride back to the Flamingo, as a friend of his was in his hotel room with a girl.

Mardikian was taken into custody by one of two other vice detectives in the room working as the undercover officer's backup. He was arrested on one count of soliciting prostitution.
