OXNARD, Calif. (KABC) -- Oxnard Police seized four firearms from persons prohibited from owning or possessing them during a compliance check on Wednesday.

Investigators from the Oxnard Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit and agents from the California Justice Dept. Bureau of Firearms conducted 11 compliance checks on people prohibited from having guns due to criminal convictions, mental health prohibitions or protective orders on Wednesday in various parts of the city.

A Colt AR-15 assault rifle, a long-barreled rifle and two semiautomatic handguns were seized. Numerous rounds of ammunition and high-capacity magazines were also seized.

One of the prohibited persons was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant, police said.
