VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A home-invasion robbery suspect was hospitalized after being shot by a homeowner in Van Nuys Monday night.

Los Angeles police officers were called to a residence on the 6200 block of Matilija Avenue at about 11:12 p.m. One of the residents shot a man in the hip who had allegedly broken into the house.

The suspect was hospitalized and was expected to survive. The suspect was seen with a bloody nose as he was loaded into an ambulance.

The residents were not injured. The homeowner was not arrested.
