Homicide investigation underway after shooting at Ontario home
A homicide investigation is underway following a fatal shooting at a home in Ontario.

ONTARIO, Calif. (KABC) -- A 14-year-old girl was fatally shot by a 20-year-old male at a home in Ontario Wednesday night. The suspect has been taken into custody.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting victim in the 700 block of East I Street at 8:35 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a 14-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear. Detectives say there were several people at the house when the shooting occurred, and the suspect and victim knew each other.

Coroner's officials arrived on scene and rolled a stretcher into the back side of the house at around 4:30 a.m. Thursday. A body was removed from the scene shortly before 5:30 a.m.

A handgun believed to have been used in the crime was recovered at the scene. A small portion of East I Street was closed for investigation.
