BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KABC) -- The Ventura County husband who was accused of setting his wife on fire has surrendered to law enforcement in Bakersfield.

Authorities say Juan Soria Hernandez, 31, turned himself in on Thursday night. Ventura County sheriff's deputies picked him up, and he is now in the custody of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators believe Soria Hernandez set his wife on fire in front of their three young children at their home in the 11800 block of Broadway Road on Monday.

The 29-year-old victim managed to flag down a power crew that was working nearby. The woman was rushed to an area hospital with significant injuries.

Soria Hernandez is scheduled to appear at Ventura County Superior Court on Monday. He is being held on $1 million bail.
