A northern Idaho man faces up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine for calling 911 a dozen times regarding his $30 bar tab.

A northern Idaho man called police 12 times regarding his $30 bar tab following a night of drinking.

Officers gave Phillip Poissonnier a courtesy ride home after he was kicked out of Club Tequila just after 1 a.m., according to Post Falls police Capt. Pat Knight.

"According to the officers, he had been intoxicated, so they gave him a ride home," Knight said. "Shortly after he got a ride home, we started receiving these 911 calls from him."

Poissonnier initially called 911 to request that officers return to his home to discuss his bar tab. He was allegedly worried about being overcharged for the 10 beers he ordered.

Minutes later, he called 911 again, this time asking where they were.

"We were responding to a prowler call and while we're on the prowler call, he's calling 911 making sure he's not overcharged," Knight said.

Poissonnier called 911 twice and hung up. He then called 911 and made emergency responders listen to the radio at least three times, police said. He also told a dispatcher that she's "just like his ex-wife."

Poissonnier may face a fine of up to $1,000, a year in jail, or both for misusing 911.
