Inglewood police remain tight-lipped in case of blind man found decapitated
A vigil was held Monday night for Robert Hollis, a 75-year-old blind man who was found decapitated in his Inglewood apartment last week. Police remain very tight-lipped about the circumstances surrounding the case.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- A vigil was held Monday night at Faithful Central Bible Church for Robert Hollis, a 75-year-old blind man who was found decapitated in his Inglewood apartment last week.

Robert Hollis' headless body was found in the 800 block of Glenway Drive at about 12:45 p.m. Thursday. His family remains perplexed over who would have wanted to harm Hollis.

"I have never heard of any organization decapitating a senior citizen, a blind senior citizen," said Bishop L.J. Guillory, while speaking on behalf of the Hollis family. "Mr. Robert Hollis did not have enemies. He was a blind senior citizen living his last days in peace."

Hollis' head is still missing, according to the family. The Inglewood Police Department has remain very tight-lipped about the circumstances surrounding the case and is allegedly refusing to answer the family's questions.

"I think that's because Inglewood is interested in having an NFL football team, and they do not want the negative publicity to scare people away from coming to their city," Guillory said.

Since the investigation started on Thursday night, the Inglewood Police Department has refused to do an on-camera interview with Eyewitness News. Officers at the Inglewood Police Department's headquarters also refused to discuss the case when approached by Eyewitness News Monday.

At the vigil Monday night, Mayor James Butts said that he plans to bring up a resolution to authorize a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect responsible for this crime. He noted that authorities do not know "anything about the suspect."

"He was a kind and generous spirit who was a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Robert lived his life as a sign artist and gospel singer. His voice touched many and his spirit motivated more. His voice and spirit will be deeply missed. We are moved by the outpouring of love and prayers from so many. May God bless us all," the Hollis family said in a statement.

Anyone with additional information about this incident was asked to contact Inglewood police at (310) 412-5246.
