Injuries reported in fire at Westlake senior-care facility
WESTLAKE DISTRICT, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- At least three injuries were reported after a fire broke out at a senior residential care facility in the Westlake district Monday night, authorities said.
The fire was reported around 8:44 p.m. at a 15-story building at 455 S. Union Ave. The fire broke out on the fourth floor. Three injuries for burns and smoke inhalation were reported - with two patients considered in critical condition and one in fair condition. The patients were transported to a local hospital.
About 150 firefighters were assigned to the blaze and achieved knockdown in 42 minutes. Residents closest to the flames were evacuated from the building, while others were told to shelter in place.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
