Juvenile detained after underage victim found shot in Perris

PERRIS, Calif. (KABC) -- A juvenile was detained Tuesday night after an underage person was found shot in Perris, sheriff's officials said.

The incident was reported around 3:30 p.m. at an apartment complex located in the 1600 block of Perris Boulevard near Nuevo Road, according to the Riverside Sheriff's Department.

The male victim was found with a gunshot wound and was transported to a nearby hospital. He remained in critical condition.

Authorities did not release a description of the suspect, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately known.
