Kidnapped baby in Palmdale found safe; suspect arrested

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KABC) -- A 3-month-old baby kidnapped by her father in Palmdale has been found safe, sheriff's officials said on Saturday.

The suspect, 28-year-old Ellsworth Jerome Young, was arrested in Bakersfield after police tracked him from his cellphone.

Young allegedly physically attacked his girlfriend on Friday. She managed to escape and ran into a check cashing business on the 800 block of East Palmdale Boulevard, leaving the couple's baby in the car.

That's when Young drove off with the child. Authorities said he had a gun.
