Police are asking for the public's help to track down a suspect caught on camera snatching a purse from the 94-year-old grandmother of Los Angeles City Councilman Joe Buscaino.

WILMINGTON, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police are asking for the public's help to track down a suspect caught on camera snatching a purse from the 94-year-old grandmother of Los Angeles City Councilman Joe Buscaino.

Police have not released the woman's name, but Buscaino, a former police officer, Tweeted about the incident.

The incident happened outside of a store in the 600 block of Wilmington Boulevard in Wilmington on Nov. 29, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Surveillance video shows the suspect, who was riding a skateboard, grabbing her purse as she stands next to a car in a parking lot.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing between 150 and 180 pounds with black hair and a mustache. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and black camouflage shorts. Authorities said he might have a tattoo on his left arm.

Before the purse-snatching, investigators said the suspect was seen inside the store with another Hispanic male. Police said this man does not appear to be involved in the crime, but they are looking for him as a person of interest.

The second male was described as also being in his 20s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing between 120 and 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
