A 23-year-old transient man was arrested Sunday for allegedly assaulting a female real estate agent as she was accessing a lock box for a Laguna Niguel home.

Orange County sheriff's deputies arrested John Thomas Glenn near a park by Crown Valley Parkway and Niguel Road.

On Saturday afternoon, Glenn allegedly placed the 55-year-old woman in a chokehold and punched her several times. Glenn told investigators that he was under the influence of drugs and attempting to enter the home to commit theft.

Instead, after assaulting the woman, he got into a physical fight with a neighbor who heard the noise, deputies said. He then fled the area. Authorities searched for Glenn, but could not find him.

After an investigation, deputies identified Glenn and arrested him. Investigators believe the crime was fueled by opportunity and not because the victim was a real estate agent.

Glenn was booked into Orange County Jail on attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. He was held on $50,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff's Department at (714) 647-7000.
