LANCASTER, Calif. (KABC) -- A man is in critical condition after another man stole his car at knifepoint, ran him over, then stabbed him several times in Lancaster.

Lancaster sheriff's deputies responded to a person screaming shortly after 10:45 p.m. Friday in the 43000 block of 7th Street East. The victim told deputies that he was sitting in his car at a Chevron gas station at 4th Street and Avenue K, when a man tried to rob him at knife point.

The suspect then proceeded to tell the man to move to the passenger seat, got in and drove away. The victim managed to exit the vehicle, but was struck by the car in the process. The suspect then got out of the car and stabbed the victim several times in the chest.

The suspect drove off in the victim's car, crashed it into a nearby fence and fled on foot. He is still at large.
