Llano drug raid prompts cannon-shooting scare
A drug raid in the desert community of Llano took an interesting turn Thursday after authorities received reports of a cannon on the property.

LLANO, Calif. (KABC) -- A drug raid in the desert community of Llano resulted in a man's arrest Thursday after authorities received reports of a cannon on the property.

Deputies from the sheriff's Palmdale station responded to the 34000 block of 175th East around 6 a.m. after neighbors called authorities saying that someone was firing cannons in the area.

A pipe sticking out of a mound of dirt was located on the property, but investigators were still trying to determine what it is. They have not confirmed if the pipe is a cannon or not.

Authorities investigate a possible homemade cannon in Llano on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014.

Officials said the sound neighbors heard came from flash-bangs used during the narcotics raid, not a cannon.

"When we served the search warrant this morning, we brought our special weapons team. During the service of the search warrant, sometimes we deploy tactical noises, if you will," said Lt. Stefanie Fredericks with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Detectives say they were searching the property for drugs and possible explosives. They found narcotics, multiple rifles and stolen property.

One male suspect was arrested and booked on narcotics and receiving stolen property. His bail was set at $50,000.
