Lockdown at South Los Angeles school lifted after no evidence of crime is found

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A lockdown at Dr. Maya Angelou Community High School in South Los Angeles was lifted after police found no evidence of a crime following reports of gunfire near the campus.

Officer Aarean Jefferson says police were dispatched around 8:20 a.m. Tuesday following reports of gunfire near the school in the 300 block of East 53rd Street.

Initial reports said a man had been found in the street with a gunshot wound, but LAPD spokeswoman Officer Liliana Preciado says there were no injuries and no evidence of a crime. The lockdown was lifted around 9:30 a.m.
