FRESNO, Calif. (KABC) -- Following a dayslong manhunt, a 28-year-old suspect has been arrested near Fresno in connection with the rape of a woman at her Maywood home.

Salvador Martinez, a Maywood resident, was apprehended at about 3:30 p.m. Friday by members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Major Crimes Bureau, according to a news release issued Saturday.

Details of Martinez's arrest were not immediately disclosed. He was transported back to L.A. County and booked at the sheriff's East Los Angeles station, the agency said in a statement. Facing multiple charges, including rape, the suspect was being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

The incident occurred between midnight and 4 a.m. Nov. 13 at a residence in the area of Slauson and Maywood avenues, where the victim was alone at the time, investigators said.

According to detectives, Martinez's fingerprints linked him to the attack. Before he was captured, authorities had released photos of his face and multiple tattoos.

Investigators were working to determine if Martinez was involved in a series of break-ins and other sexual assaults in the area that preceded the rape.

Sheriff's officials are expected to provide more information about the arrest at a Monday morning news conference in Los Angeles.

Martinez is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Norwalk Superior Court.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the sheriff's Special Victims Bureau at (877) 710-5273. Those wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
