Man found dead in overturned car in South El Monte
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 20-year-old man found in an overturned car in South El Monte.

SOUTH EL MONTE, Calif. (KABC) -- Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 20-year-old man found in an overturned car in South El Monte.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, authorities received reports of a car overturned at the northbound Rosemead Boulevard on-ramp to the eastbound 60 Freeway.

The man, identified as Jonathon Loaiza, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene.

When detectives arrived at the scene, they also learned that deputies at the Pico Rivera Station were investigating the circumstances of a gunshot victim reported at a local hospital.

Detectives found two guns inside the overturned car during the investigation at the scene. Authorities are looking into whether the occupant in the car was involved in some type of altercation with the gunshot victim.

Authorities say it is unclear if the two incidents are related. The on-ramp and Rosemead Boulevard off-ramp were closed during the investigation.
