Police: Man kidnapped his grandma to smoke meth

SALEM, Ore. -- Law enforcement officials say an Oregon man is facing charges after he allegedly kidnapped his own grandmother and forced her to drive him around while he smoked meth.

The Marion County Sheriff's Department said 22-year-old Robert White was staying in a hotel with his 87-year-old grandmother, when she asked him to leave.

Police said White then put a knife to her throat and forced her to drive him around for nearly 12 hours while he smoked meth. White eventually called 911 and police tracked them down and arrested him.

His grandmother was not harmed.

White has been charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, kidnapping, menacing and violation of a protective order.
