Man killed changing tire on 605 Freeway in Irwindale

IRWINDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- A 35-year-old man was killed changing his tire on the shoulder of the southbound 605 Freeway in Irwindale early Friday.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the accident near Lower Azusa Road around 3:35 a.m. The suspect vehicle fled the scene. The fatal crash snarled traffic near the area for hours during the morning commute.

Motorists were advised to use Myrtle or Irwindale avenues as alternates.
