Man killed in Long Beach hit-and-run

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Police are searching for a driver who struck and killed a man in Long Beach early Saturday morning.

The crash happened around 12:11 a.m. in the area of Spring Street, east of Studebaker Road. Police say the victim's body landed about 115 feet from the area of impact. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe the victim was crossing Spring Street, outside of a crosswalk, when he was hit by a silver Honda traveling westbound. Detectives say the vehicle left more than 107 feet of skid marks on the road.
