MONTEBELLO, Calif. (KABC) -- A homicide investigation was underway in Montebello after a young man was shot to death Friday afternoon.
The victim, who was 17 or 18, was allegedly with a group of friends when a gunman walked up to him in the area of Via Acosta and Garfield Avenue and opened fire. A body was seen on the lawn outside a residence, Montebello police said.
The young man was shot at least six times, before the suspect fled the scene, police said.
A motive has not been determined, but police say the incident was likely gang related.
