TEMECULA, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was shot and killed by officers in Temecula following a pursuit that ended in a crash Tuesday afternoon, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities said officers with the Temecula Police Department responded to an armed robbery in progress in the 32400 block of Temecula Parkway at about 3:45 p.m.

When officers made contact with the suspect, they said he was in a vehicle and attempted to drive away.

Police chased the suspect before the vehicle crashed into another vehicle at Moraga Road and Margarita Road.

After the collision, the sheriff's department said an officer-involved shooting happened and a man was killed.

No law enforcement officials were injured during the incident, according to the sheriff's department.

The identity of the deceased suspect was not immediately released pending notification of next of kin.
