A man was shot and killed in the Arlington Heights area Monday night, and a search is underway for a teenage suspect.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man was shot and killed in the Arlington Heights area Tuesday night, and a search is underway for a teenage suspect.

The shooting happened around 8:50 p.m. near the intersection of West 21st Street and 8th Avenue.

Police say the victim, only identified as a man in his 30s, suffered from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

The suspect was last seen getting into a blue SUV and traveling eastbound on 21st Street. He was described as a male between 16 to 18 years old, wearing black shorts and a black hoodie.

The motive for the shooting is unknown.

"We need help from the community. We know that there were a lot of people out here that may have seen what occurred," said Lt. John Radtke with the Los Angeles Police Department.
