Michigan AG to Announce Charges Against 3 in Flint Crisis: Sources

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette will announce charges against three people in connection with the Flint water crisis, according to ABC News affiliate WXYZ in Detroit.

The charges will include felonies, sources told WXYZ, and are a result from the investigation into the toxic water emergency.

Schuette will make a formal announcement Wednesday afternoon, and he will be joined by Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton, Special Counsel Todd Flodd, Chief Investigator Andy Arena and Deputy Chief Investigator Ellis Stafford, WXYZ reported, citing the Attorney General's office.

One Flint water department employee will be charged, along with two mid-level engineers with Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, sources told ABC News affiliate WJRT in Flint. At least one of the charges relates to falsifying government documents, WJRT reported.

The source of drinking water for the city of Flint was changed from the Detroit River to the Flint River in April 2014.
