Military-grade ordnance found in backyard of Topanga Canyon home

TOPANGA, Calif. (KABC) -- Landscape workers discovered a military-grade ordnance buried in the backyard of a residence in Topanga Canyon Saturday, Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said.

The 30-inch device was uncovered in the 21300 block of Colina Drive at about 5 p.m.

A sheriff's explosives team responded and took possession of the device after rendering it safe. The device appeared to be inert. No injuries were reported.
