Missing 2-year-old Edwin Vargas found in Texas; father Abraham Vargas arrested

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Missing 2-year-old Edwin Vargas, who was abducted by his father from the L.A. area on May 23, was found in Texas Thursday night. Abraham Vargas has been arrested.

Edwin Vargas is in the protective custody of the Department of Children Services. Suspect Abraham Vargas was arrested and was held on a $1 million warrant in Texas.

The L.A. City Council announced a $50,000 reward in June for information leading to Vargas's arrest.

Vargas allegedly took the child from Beatriz Perez, Edwin's mother, in Boyle Heights on May 23. An Amber Alert was immediately issued.

Vargas is also wanted for having unlawful sex with a minor.
