Missing Walnut High School teen found safe in Whittier

WALNUT, Calif. (KABC) -- A Walnut High School student who was reported missing after failing to show up to his cross-country meeting Wednesday has been found safe.

Kayne Doughty's grandmother told Eyewitness News he was found near a Burger King in Whittier Thursday night.

Helicopters with infrared technology helped search for the 14-year-old Thursday morning after his lunchbox was found along the public running trails at the Icetrek Bridge in Walnut.

Doughty's grandmother did not release any further details.
